I know your lovely cousin Nicole and I also have a daughter, 24 yrs old, with handicaps. She became ill at the age of 6 yrs old, having seizures, has gone blind, however she is a wonder to us all. We ski with Challenge Aspen and was there just a few weeks ago. I had all good intentions of getting in touch with you and your family however I became quite ill and spent the entire week in bed. I would love to get you and my daughter, Kelly, in touch with each other. She has also made remarkable improvements and is on her way to KS in a couple of weeks to see about getting a companion/seizure dog. She has not been able to handle the needs of a seeing eye dog therefore we are praying this will be an answer for her. Nicole gave me your phone number but I felt I should communicate this way first. Kelly had a computer that was voice activated however she has not been able to use it for sometime due to something no one can figure out and correct. We will proceed in getting her a new one once we have the trip to KS behind us. We will keep you in our prayers here in TN and hope to hear from you soon. Fondly, Peggy Bond PS What a wonderful person Nicole is and she thinks so highly of you and your family:)

Hey Girl! Hope this finds you well. I sure do love seeing those photos of you. I think of you all the time and am so thrilled about your progress. It's very snowy in Boston... I'm all set if it doesn't snow for the rest of the year. The worst storm we had dumped 38" on my house. The combo of the huge amount of snow as well as the wind made some spots have 6' drifts. Needless to say, Saphron couldn't walk in it and Mike was in Sunny Florida for work. Speaking of work, we both took on new jobs this year which are giving us a crazy amount of work and lots of travel. All in all, I think they were important steps in our career and should mean more money and more recognition once we figure out what we are doing. :) I got a nice email from Tom Hudson, not sure if you remember, but he lived with us in the dorms at CU. He was checking in and he asked for you, so I had him check out your site. You may see a note from him at some point. Anyway, I have to get back to work. I love you and miss you! xoxo Lynz

Dear Marla and Family, I was so excited to hear that you are going to be fit for your new bike. Yee-hah! I hope you are adjusting to your move back to Glenwood. We moved to Milliken two years ago and I finally feel like this is home. Although, we didn't get to see each other much while you were in Denver, I liked feeling that you were close...I miss having you close by. How about I come for a visit? I am thinking sometime in March. I will let you know specifics soon! Everyone at my house is doing well. My eleven year old, Larimer, is in fifth grade! She starts middle school in the fall...can you believe I have a daughter that is about to start middle school? It is actually kind of funny - I still feel like a kid myself :0) My son, Luke, starts kindergarten in the fall, also - talk about a double whammy! I'm sure I'll be in a puddle of bittersweet tears on the first day of school next year. My three year old, Logan, just started dance class. She loves to watch herself flit around in all of the mirrors in the dance studio. They are a lot of fun but they keep me hopping. My mom says I am getting just what I deserve...whatever that means! :0) Marla, I am so proud of you! I read about the artwork that you showed at the Brain Injury Conference - that is so cool! Know that I think about you often and am sending lots of positive energy your way! Tell your family "hi" and let them know that I am thinking of them, too. I am continually amazed by their support, dedication and caring! Happy Valentine's Day Talk with you soon! Tiff

Hi Marla! It's quite a gloomy day here in Thornton, much different from Valentine's Day on Monday! Steve bought me cozy jammies and a robe for the hospital, so we got my bag all packed and ready to go! I bought him a Willow Tree figurine called "New Dad," which is of a man sitting down holding a baby in his lap. It's really beautiful! He's going to be such a great daddy! We have student-led conferences tomorrow, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. That's going to be a l-o-n-g day on my feet! The kids have done a Power Point presentation to show their parents, along with sharing some of their writing and setting goals for the third trimester. I love student-led conferences! I remember doing them with you at Malley. How has the card making been going? I had a stamp stack at my house a couple weekends ago and each person got to make up to 30 cards! It sure did take a long time to get ready for that! But it was a lot of fun. Last weekend I went to my friend, Kerry's baby shower. She is due just 4 days before I am! You might remember Kerry, she is friends with Peggy, your OT from Craig. I know you met her at my bridal shower and probably several other times as well. She asks how you're doing often. Well, let us know when you're going to be back down in Denver! Love you! MM

Hi Marla, your Mom and I have been looking at my Kodak Easy Share digital pictures of Hannah and then I checked out your pictures on the web site. I am waiting for Hannah to arrive as I am going to take care of her this afternoon. Joe and I got the truck out of 3-4 ft. of snow. Took a lot of shoveling, etc. Am stiff and sore today. Happy Valentime's Day All for now. Love, Judy

Happy Valentine's Day, Marla. I was just looking at your recent photos. How's the arm healing? We are having great weather today for Valentine's Day. I hear the mountains are expecting snow today and I'm wondering if Glenwood is getting some? The pictures of Puck in the sun remind me of him sleeping on my coat one day when I was at your house. I don't think either one of us has totally recovered from that shock! Missy is feeling some contractions today, so we were all kidding her about delivering the baby at school today. We are certainly KIDDING! Parent conferences are Thursday and she wants to get through them. Whatever happens, happens, though. This is going to be such a cute baby. She is keeping the name a secret, however. Did she share it with you? Even her mother told me she didn't know what it was. Missy had a shower last week at Brandon's house. As you know, he has cats. I am very allergic to cats and my eyes were swelling shut. I had to leave while I could still enough to drive home! She got so much stuff. A little baby comes with an incredible amount of "stuff." They are going to have to add an addition to get it all in! Have a wonderful Valentine's Day. There are lots of us at Glacier Peak who love you! xxxx Donna Foubert

Dear Marla, Hi - I really enjoyed seeing your new update pictures. So many great ones of you! It's fun to see some of the activities you've been doing. Puck and Ziggy look superb, too. While I was out this afternoon, I stopped by a downtown store where I saw my feline buddy -- a beautiful,Puck-looking,black "store cat" whose name is Zachary. I first met him there last fall when he was quite little. He'd just recently appeared in front of the store, and the owner had taken him in. Within days, he'd owned the store and also the customers! The rain has fallen steadily since Thursday. It has been raining for weeks, with only a day or two of sunshine now and then. We should have a very, very green spring here in Silver City. I really enjoyed all the wildflowers on my place last year after the summer rainy season; perhaps the flowers will be even better this year. However, I have a long list of outside-things to do, and I'm eager to see some sunny days once again. I finally got all the paperwork and the fingerprinting done and turned in, to apply for my New Mexico teaching license, and to apply for subbing. I'm now doing volunteer tutoring for an 11-year-old boy, once a week, through a local group called "Literacy Link." I get all excited when I start going through my boxes of teaching-stuff to get things for his lessons! Mary, I appreciate the envelope of things which arrived today. I'll write soon. Love, Sylvia

Marla & Mary - I have spent a few hours reading your story.....I was so glad to see both of you over the holidays in Glenwood. I think my mother taught me best by showing me people can overcome when they put their minds to it...you are showing that now. If a blind woman can ski, I believe all things are possible. The world is blessed Marla that you are a part of it. Mary, I did tell my family hello, they send their love. Jenni
