Hi, Marla - I just stopped by your website tonight to look at pictures. I've seen them before, but when I look at them I feel that I've had a bit of a visit with you! You are looking SO good! My new cat, Rosemary, the one I sent you the card about, is doing so well. She's such a wonderfully responsive girl who just loves to have her head petted and her chin scratched, and she really enjoys conversation. The shelter thinks that a person injured her, and I think it's amazing that she can still be so responsive and so eager for human contact. She drags her right arm and paw; they just seem limp. But she is a big-time climber, always up on things and back down again. I wish you could see her; I think you'd love her, too. I think of you daily. My love to you, Sylvia

Marla, Hi there! It’s been quite a while. I check your website frequently and it’s always great to see how well you are doing. You show great strength and determination. I find myself thinking of you often when I watch re-runs of Friends and remember all the times we watched them together eating Taco Bell. Things are going great for me and the family; we all think and talk about you often. I have moved to Denver and am (hopefully) working on my last year of college. You helped me out a lot that first year in Boulder; I appreciate everything you did for me. Marla, you always were a special part of our family, we miss you dearly. Take care of yourself; I look forward to reading more about you conquering your challenges. Many thoughts and prayers, Lexi

Hi Marla, I skied with Mark at A-Basin Saturday; it was a beautiful day. Mark told me about your new recumbent bicycle. The picture looks pretty slick; let's take it for a spin around Lake Dillon this spring! I wanna go I wanna go! Recalling the tricks you pulled off while snowboarding, I bet I'll be seeing you layin' patches o' rubber on the bike path! Arlene

Hi Marla! We've all been home now for a week, and have started to figure out this whole baby thing, at least for now! Riley is just perfect, I can't wait for you to meet him! We can't figure out who he really looks like yet. He kind of looks like my brother and my dad sometimes. Today we went up to school for class pictures and to meet everyone. I didn't think I'd get him back from Donna! :) My incision from the c-section is healing up pretty well, today was the first day I drove, and it didn't feel too bad. I hope Puck is recovered from his surgery! Poor Puckster! Harley and Scout have been very good with Riley. They sniff him and give him little kisses, they're very gentle. Hope to hear from you soon! How has the stamping been going? Love you! MM

Dear Marla, I just now realized that you have new pictures posted. I'd seen your new update, recently, but somehow I hadn't realized that there were new photos. I always enjoy seeing you and all the things you are doing. I was so glad to see that you are applying to do volunteer work at the hospital. You have so much to offer to people who are in a hospital, with your warm personality, your loveliness, your sense of humor, and your own experience of having been hospitalized. It was great to see that you are using your right hand so well, that you are continuing with stamping, and, the "icing on the cake" was to see you on the bicycle. Seeing "Poor Puck's Tummy" reminds me of long ago when I had a big, proud cat who developed a bad abscess half-way up his tail. He had to have his entire tail shaved for the surgery, all except for a little tuft which the doctor left on the end of his tail. I thought he looked cute, but he was not amused! The change in his tail affected his balance. He was accustomed to doing a lot of climbing, but he'd lose his balance and nearly fall off of things. But he recovered quickly and had many, many years (18 1/2) as the "king of the farm." My love to you and your family, Sylvia

Hi Shmars! Look at you and that bike! That was great to see. I'm so glad you will be up and about. I know how active you like to be. Those pictures of Colorado were gorgeous. Thank you for sharing. We are desparately awaiting Spring in Boston. It's been a miserable winter. I guess Boston usually has about 40 inches of snow each year and this year we had 80! Needless to say, it's melting now, but my front yard is still too white for my taste. But the flowers are starting to bloom and I think Spring may be around the corner. Mikey and I are working very hard in our new jobs and travelling a lot. We got to celebrate my Dad's 65th birthday this past weekend in NY and I got to see my nephew Colby- who managed to get the whole family sick. So now I'm fighting a cold, but on the mend. We are off to Florida next week for some relaxation and a visit at my Mom's. We can't wait. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know you were in my thoughts. Happy Spring, Sweetie! Love, Lynz

Hey Marla, I don't know if you remember me, but I was one of your students at Malley Drive Elementry. Ms. Lemmon told me that you were in a bad car accident. I was just wondering what all happened. All Ms. Lemmon told me was that you were in a car accident and that you were in the hospital for a while. Also that you have to relearn speech and things like that. I hope you are doing better now. I wish you the best of luck. I hope I hear back from you. Oh everybody says hi. Sincerely, Erika Murray. P.S. My last name when I was in your class was Glaha, also I was in your 4th grade class.

Hi Marla, Just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you and praying also ! I check in now and then and look at your web site to see what you're up too. As usual, I"m at work,It's foggy and humid, not much of a spring break. I thought it was going to be a good time to get all those things done that I never find time to, but we are under construction again here at Malley. We are finally getting air conditioning and new heating units !! There won't be much for me to do this summer, sounds like a good time to take off ! I might be going your way (Glenwood) so I'll let you know. Take care Paul T.

Dear Marla and Family, Hi - What a great surprise I found on your website! I'm so happy about your bike, and I can only imagine how much you'll enjoy it as the weather warms up. I'm also happy to know that Puck got through his surgery just fine. There's something about ribbon and string, that just really attracts cats, and they have an uncanny ability to find it no matter where it is! I think I told you some of my cat-and-yarn stories! It's surprising that I haven't had a cat have to have surgery for swallowing ribbon or string, but I've had numerous close calls even though I'm fanatical about keeping such things away from them. They've opened drawers, opened closet doors, taken the lids off of boxes, and climbed up shelves to get ribbon that I thought was TOTALLY put away from them! (It's surprising how many commercial cat toys aren't constructed properly to keep cats from removing and swallowing the ribbons, strings, and cords.) I'm just so grateful that he is ok. Hey, Puck, your gorgeous, shiny hair will grow back on your shaved tummy, and you will be the same handsome dude you've always been! I stayed with Ryan and Morgan this past weekend, while their parents enjoyed a short trip. We had a great time. Saturday night we went out for dinner, and then we colored eggs. Even "cool" 14-year-old Ryan was able to be a little kid long enough to color some eggs. Sunday after church Morgan and I decorated a big bunny-cake with frosting, coconut, jellybeans, licorice-string "whiskers," etc. We used to make that cake in my classroom, and it brought wonderful memories, to have coconut all over the floor once again!! I send my wishes for a very happy Easter weekend with your family. Love, Sylvia

Hi, Marla, Just a note to say "Hi" this evening. I've gotten behind with writing letters, and I want you to know I'm thinking of you. This week has been sunny and bright -- just when we thought we'd never, ever see the sun again! Morgan came over after school today, to shoot baskets. (He and Ryan have their own hoop at home, but I'm glad that he thinks mine is more fun. Chuckle.) A little later, Pam walked over, and the three of us went for a walk around the mile. The dirt roads are finally dry enough to walk on (after having been muddy most of the time since early December)and it was so very wonderful to get outside and feel that spring's nearly here. The creek is running crystal clear, now that the muddy water from all the rains, is gone. The tulips are starting to come up. I've had workmen here this week, building a wheelchair ramp for me to use to get Mom from the house to the car and back. She can't handle the two steps to the porch any more. The first ramp was nearly done when I realized it was far too steep; I didn't have good control of the wheelchair, going down the ramp. So we had to take the ramp apart and figure out another place to put it, and the second time it's turning out very well. Sunday I'll drive over to Tucson to take cats to be spayed and neutered, and will come back Monday night. These three are very wild ones, so Judi and I have our work waiting for us! I'm looking forward to having some shopping time in Tucson on this trip. I'll go for now, and will write soon. I enjoyed getting the pretty card, yesterday, which you made in Stampin'Up, and your mom's note. Love, Sylvia

Hi Marla Your photo from the newspaper has been in my in box since Oct 26, 2004. Just waiting for the right moment and this might be it! Knowing your teaching and athletic background, I wondered if you would be interested in volunteering as a coach for Special Olympics? Two teachers, Chad Filipi from GSES, and Colleen Body from SES, return for a second year of volunteering for Track and Field. It would be marvelous to include you too. Community volunteers make a world of difference with our Mountain Valley Special Olympians. Lynn Alsdorf is coaching the Special Olympics swim team which also needs volunteers. Swimming meets on Thursday afternoons and Track on Sunday afternoons starting late March. Let me know what you think. Best wishes Linda Austin-Martin Mountain Valley Recreation Coordinator Friend and Admirer of the Williams Family

Hi Marla, You don't know me but I help manage a care page for Rachel Kelly, your brother Mark, sent a message for Rachel and her family and left your web site address. Visiting your web site has given me hope for Rachel. Rachel is only 15 and a good friend of my daughter and I was wondering if there are any ideas or insights you could share with us from your experiences. Rachel's damage was on the left side of her brain also with various broken bones. She can answer questions with yes and no motions of the head but may never be able to speak again. She will be able to walk in time with a limp but is unable to move her right arm or hand. I noticed that you listed some books on your web site would you recomend any of these books for teenagers? I think it would help my dauther if she could better understand Rachel's injuries and the length of time it will take for Rachel to heal. Thank you for your web site and I will think of you and your family each night when we pray for Rachel.

Hi Marla! Hope all is well! I'm at home, taking the week off before my due date. The baby can come at any time now, but we're hoping he waits at least until this weekend. We have a sad, but rather amazing story. On Monday, Steve's grandmother in Oklahoma, on his mom's side, passed away at 4:10 p.m. our time. At that exact moment, we were in the doctor's office for our regular appointment, listening to the baby's heartbeat. There's something pretty incredible about that, don't you think? Anyway, unfortunately we aren't able to travel to Oklahoma for the services, but Rick, Kathie, Brad, Nicole and Owen are all headed out there. Of course they're worried that they'll miss the birth, but being there for Grandad is the most important thing right now. I see that your application has been processed and you and Mary are officially started with Stampin' up! Let me know when you get your starter kit with all the goodies! It's going to be so much fun sharing ideas! Well, my dear, I'll keep you posted on baby news when there is some! Love you! MM
