Marla, Mary, and Leo, Great to read about your continued progress! Good luck on the April 4th move! Leo, we checked your lot and very few weeds growning. We will continue to keep tabs and as the June 1st deadline gets closer and the weeds higher - Marvin will take over his mower and mow down the few weeds that are there. So please do not be concerned! We have it covered! Take Care. Marvin and Monty Rhodes

Shmars! It is so great to see you out and about. Even better, it's great to hear that you are laughing. Loved seeing the new photos from the museum. Spoke with Dave Lopez for a very long time last night and he sends his love and best wishes. He just got engaged too! He'll be getting married in October in Connecticut. Wedding plans for Mike and I continue to go smoothly. I'm thankful for that. You better tell your therapists that you'll need to brush up on your dance moves... we sure would love to see you at our wedding in September.

Hey Mars! I just wanted to let you know what I great time I had the other day with you and your family and my kids. Gabe had a blast with your dad. Your dad seems to think that you recognized Gabe and enjoyed seeing him...that makes me happy. Gabe told Hugo about seeing you and that you "have owies but your gonna be better". So if Gabe says so, then it has to be true :) Well it's not too much longer at Craig, huh? That's good news, but take it easy on your mom and dad, O.K.? Try not to be too much of a diva, my love. I love you mucho and I hope to be seeing you soon again; before your departure from Craig. P.S. While Hugo was gone in L.A., Gabe decided it would be fun to "decorate" my upstairs with a blue crayola marker....needless to say, I was not in the headlines of the paper the next day. I survived and Gabriel will live to see his 4th birthday next year! Ugh. Love ya, Ness and Family

Hey Marla-- You are in my thoughts several times a day every day. I look forward to the time when you're strong enough to come out for the weekend and be with me, the boys, and the horses. I remember going riding with you and the happy smile on your face. I love you very, very much. I miss you. I plan to come visit this weekend. We were snoed in for a week and prior to that I had sick kids and didn't want to be around you (so you weren't exposed to anything). Keep up the good work!!!! I'm very rpoud of you. love, Bridge

Hi Mars, I've been hearing about that awful snowstorm in Denver, and how debilitating it's been for everyone. My friend Randy's roof collapsed... he's still waiting for the insurance adjuster. I think we are all ready for a bit of spring. Today in Boston, it's 70 degrees! I couldn't be happier... course I'm working so can't enjoy too much of the outside. I imagine you are counting down the days until you are an outpatient at Craig. The whole gang of your extended CU Boulder family wishes you well and thinks of you every day. Keep on truckin, sweetie! We are really proud of you! Love, Lynz

Marla, It has been too many years since Glenwood and all the wonderful times we had together with swim team. Cade and Vince still tell great stories about you and whining to your Mom that "Mark is making chicken noises". It still makes us all laugh. Julie Andersen and I will stop by soon to give you a big hug and share stories of what we have been doing since Glenwood. Our love to you!

Hi Marla, Mary, Leo, and Mark. Greetings from Ouray. People here ask about you often. I tell them that you are working hard to get better. I wonder if you have a press release with information about how to donate to Marla's fund, so that people here can help? If not, maybe I could just print part of this website and send it to the Plaindealer. Please let me know your wishes on how to proceed here. I understand that all will be changing for you all next week, with the move out of the hospital. I think of you all the time and hope that all will be well. Marla seems to be making such good progress. She couldn't possibly be in better hands than yours, Mary and Leo. Please let me know what I can do to get the word out to folks here in Ouray. All my love, Jenny and Sean Hart

Marla, Hi there! It is so good to hear how you are doing, and to have the opportunity to see once again, how wonderful our community is. The community is bigger than just Glenwood Springs. Your friends seem to have reached out from everywhere. I pray for you, that you may continue to do well. Michael Flood is engaged to be married. And as a gift for him, we are to look through photos, to find pictures of he and his family - from years past, and create an album for him. It has been quite a moving experience to do this. I have photos of our families - sledding, of the Flood children, and David and Kate, kyaking in a small amount of water, when they were very little - near their home, and of gatherings at your Mom and Dad's home in Glenwood. We are truly blessed. Through all of the great joys, as well as the most difficult times, we are truly Blessed. May you continue to heal. I'm not sure if you remember David and Kate; they are a bit younger than you and Mark. David is living in San Diego, California, and working as a Geologist. He is having a good time, and experiencing what it's like to live in a big city. Kate, is living in Keea'u, Hawaii, and going to the University of Hawaii', in Hilo. She started there with a major in Marine Biology, and now is hoping to be accepted in their Nursing Program. She loves living there. I remember that you lived on one of the islands for awhile. Just visiting the islands, is a most wonderful experience. Marla, "hi," to Mark, your Mom, and your Dad. Continue to heal. Love, Rosa

Marla, Leo and Mary...I hope you are all digging out from the Blizzard 2003. What a mess. It was drizzly and cloudy here, but nothing like what the front range experienced. I am again excited about the great progress you are making, and it will be better to be an out patient at Craig. Take care and know that you are loved and prayed for. Cousin JoAnne

Marla – I just had the privilege of viewing your website for the first time today. It did not surprise me to look through and see pages filled with love and support from tons of friends and family. What a beautiful place to view your recovery, share in your accomplishments, and find out ways to support you and your incredible family. I thought I would fill you in on what is happening at a place you are also sorely missed – Archiver’s. There is rarely a time when I don’t walk in the store, and expect to see your smiling face. Everyone here looks forward to visits and calls from Rob, who always keeps us in the loop with updates. We continue to bombard him with messages to relay back to you, but it never seemed like enough. Everyone here felt we should be doing something more. So, we have all been busy working on something special – which a small group of us are going to give to you on Thursday night. We can’t wait to come and see you! Love, Christina Cardinale

Dearest Marla, We continue to visit your website to read about your progress. It looks like the prayers, positive energy, and support are working. We're pleased to know that you have tried walking on stairs, have a new bed, and will be leaving Craig as an in-patient in April. You're working very hard. Your dog Woody is beautiful. It's so nice that he was able to visit you in your room. Know that we care deeply and will continue to support you and your family in any way possible. Love, Kathy Harris

Hello to the William's! I have been looking at this awesome web site, I love it! Marla, it sounds like you continue to make some great progress. Day by day, step by step... that is what it takes to recover from a brain injury. You are doing it!!! I really am in awe of how much hard work you have done. You and your family are an inspiration to so many who have never had to know the world of brain injuries. You are doing so much to increase other folks sensitivity and awareness. Just the role you wanted in life....!!! Please know that you and your family continue to be in our thoughts and prayers every single day.Hang in there, you can do this!!! Oh, by the way, have you been to the ice-cream shop right across the street from Craig and Swedish? It is worth a trip! Hope you get back to spring weather, so you can get out and enjoy some outings. Boy, I sure do miss you. Sorry I couldn't visit with you last weekend... I had strep. I'm much better now and I look forward to seeing you again. I love the new pictures of you. I can tell from your eyes the level of awareness and strides that you are making. Hugo is off to L.A. for Spring Break vacation for his yearly baseball journey. They rented a charter bus this year, now he get's to kick back and watch movies. I am home, alone with a 3 and 1 year old until next Thursday...AUUGGHH!!! I'm gonna be in need of some serious adult conversation in a few days. Hopefully the kids and I can come over for a visit this weekend.... maybe I can pass the kids along to Mark so we can chat together :). Do you think I should take Gabe's bat and ball....? Probably not a good idea. Love ya mucho, Ness

Hello, Marla! I am so thankful for the hard work that your brother is doing to keep this website up and current. It is a joy to continue to check in and see your progress. May you be filled daily with energy and strength as you continue your journey to recovery. I along with many continue to pray daily for you and your family. Hang in there! I also check in frequently with Missy and she updates me with the times you've been able to have with her during her visits. May God also provide you with tender comfort during the times of confusion and frustration. Don't ever feel all alone, God is always beside you, holding you close. Love you! Carol Ann

Hello, Marla... My name is Sara. You don't know me, nor do I know you. However, we share a mutual friend by the name of Ariella Raley. She and I are very good friends and she was telling me about what you've been going through since December. Although we don't know each other, I figured that wasn't necessary in order to send someone a note of support. From the website, I can see everything you've gone through and I wonder how difficult it must be for you. I just wanted to say that I think it's amazing that you have come this far when most people would probably give up. I'm sure it takes a lot of strength and courage to face this every day. I also wanted to say what a role model you are for people. Every day you prove that you're going to get through this, no matter what it takes. You're living proof that no matter what happens, you can get through it. All you have to do is try. Hang in there, Marla and everything will be okay. Everything happens for a reason...I'm a firm believer in that. Whatever the reason, it's going to make you a better person because of it. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Take Care and get well soon! :) Peace, Sara B.

Hi Marla: I'm so sorry I have'nt been out to visit with you and your family. I got pneumonia in February and have been coughing ever since. I didn't think it would be good to spread my germs to you. I hope to see you during Spring break. I have enjoyed looking at all the pictures in your photo gallery. It is so good to see you outside in the sun. I talk with Missy often and she keeps me updated as to your progress. You and your family are always in my prayers and know that will continue. With love, Ruth

I can see how hard you have been having to work and it is really paying off! I will be down very soon to visit again. We miss you here at Glacier Peak! Love ya! Ginger

Dear Marla, Mark, Mary and Leo, I'm sitting here perusing your amazing web site just before I write my story to go along with the photos I took at Marla's benfit event on March 7. If all goes as planned, my Our Towns page on this event will run next Wednesday, March 26. I will be out of town that day--visiting our sons in San Francisco, but I will try to get an extra copy or 2 of that paper when I return. Perhaps you can ask friends who will be in GS to save you a few papers. I marvel at your courage and strength and send you all my best wishes for Marla's steady and continual recovery. I hope you enjoy the Our Towns page. May it bring your friends a little closer. It comes with love and good wishes. Alison

Hey Marla, Can you believe they gave us 3 snow days!? Now we have one day of school, then spring break. Think I should try to do lots of teaching tomorrow? :) The snow is absolutely beautiful, and today the sun is shining. Poor Steve got stuck down in Littleton during the blizzard, so it was just me and the pooches shoveling and shoveling and shoveling... I wish you could come out and play in it! I'll see you soon! Love you! Missy
