Hi Marla! It has been a very long time. I have kept up to date on your progress from Howard (via his parents)and some from Kara Schultz (English). It looks like you are doing just great! This website is very special and I hope you continue to do well! I am still in Montrose and drive by your grandparent's house almost daily. I always look to see if you are your folks (and Mark) are outside. Maybe someday I will get lucky and see you. My family (wife and 3 kids) does not get to Glenwood too often, as my parents uprooted and moved to Fruita. If we do get to the area, it would be nice to see you. And if you do ever come to Montrose, I would love to hear from you. Take care of yourself and god bless you. Roman and the family

Hi Marla, It was good to talk to you yesterday. I'm sorry I've been so out of touch. Everything with my cousin has been moving quickly since I went to Oahu to meet up with her and my other cousins. She is now receiving hospice care, so they are making her comfortable for as long as she has left. I'm so glad I was able to go visit with her and say my goodbyes. I will give you a call this week. Love you! MM

Dear Marla, Every time I read about you, I'm amazed at your undauntable strength, courage, humor, and spirit. I'm amazed, but not surprised. It just dawned on me that you don't get all the messages that Glacier Peak gets, so you might not know that there is a retirement party for me here this Wednesday. It will be in the ESC Training Center, 4:00-6:00. I know this is late notice, but if there is any way you can make it I would absolutely love to see you. Love and hugs, Carol

Hi Marla! I hope you had a good weekend and a nice Mother's day with your mom! We went to the zoo with Brad and Nicole, Owen, Rick and Kathie. I'm glad to hear you had a nice visit at Dee and Joyce's retirement party. Colleen's was lovely as well -- very "Queenly!" Remember, she is the "Literacy Queen!" She wanted me to tell you hello! I am taking my dogs to the dog park tonight, and I'll call to see if you want to come, although I'm worried about your arm getting jostled out there. If I don't see you tonight, I will stop by this week before I leave on Friday. Love you! MM

Dear Marla, Although I visit your web site weekly, this is my first message to you. It is Mother's Day and I have been given uninterrupted time during Monica's nap. I will finally be able to complete a note. Just a note of reintroduction, you took care of my 3rd grade class when I went on maternity leave for Jeffrey who is now 6. I was pleased to be able to see you are doing so well after your recent surgery. You looked great at Joyce and Dee's retirement party. Your strength and determination to overcome the odds is awe-inspiring! Many times when things get tough, I just visit your site and say to myself, "If Marla can accomplish so much, I can do this little thing." On this Mother's Day, please tell your mother for me that she is awe-inspiring, too. Being a mother is the hardest job on earth and she makes it look easy. I am amazed by her (your dad, too, but it is Mother's Day :-))! Tell her for me: Thank you for taking such good care of Marla. She is not through teaching us all we need to learn. Love, Susan

Hi Marla, I'm happy I ran into you yesterday (Friday, May 7th)! How lucky I was. Your arm looks like it's doing pretty good, although I'm sure it hurts. I'm sure that it will get better though. It just takes time. I will be down at Craig on Fridays, May 14th, 21st & 28th as well as June 4th & 11th. If you will be there on other days, I can jump on the bus and pop down there and it's no problem. What day and time would work for you? (Lunch time would be best for me and we could get some yummy ice cream at the store close to Craig if you'd like.) I keep you in my prayers. ---- Kevin Pettit

Marla, Im so glad and not surprised that your elbow surgery was such a success. I hope you are home and each day seeing more strength. Your nurse Andrea McFarland was my daughters best friend for many years through middle school til she moved to Denver and we last saw her at Sarah's wedding in Sept. Wow what a small world. My daughter Sarah will love reading this too. She has followed your progress with me. You are so strong and such an inspiration. You go go girl. See you soon at the pool! Anna Mae

I am putting you on the prayer list at our church and on our prayer lists. God can do miracles and we will be praying for a miracle for you and strength to face the years ahead. If God is willing you just might be able to attend that reunion nixt summer. May God keep you close in His arms. Alice Loobey Brandon

Well Marla, Boy has it been a long time. I am not sure I recall the last time we actually talked, but I am sure it was well over 15 years ago. I have been keeping tabs on you through my parents, but wanted to check things out and send you a little note. Looking at your pictures makes me smile. You look just like I remembered when I lived in Glenwood. To think that was over 25 years ago :) Right now I am emailing from Saipan. It is a small island in the Northern Mariana Islands just north of Guam. I have been here for about a year but am getting ready to move back to Boise and begin taking classes in a paramedic program there. I have been teaching for about 6 years and it is high time for a change. I hear that you are recovering very well. I hope that the most recent surgery on your elbow lends itself to a speedy recovery. I am not sure when I will be in Colorado again but I hear you may be heading back to Glenwood. Perhaps Christmas time will be an opportunity to head in that direction. I would love to stop in and and share a few stories. I think about you often and pray that you are doing well. You and your family hold a very special place in my heart. Well take care, I will keep an eye on your web page and try to send a picture or two before I head home. Say a big hello to your family for me. Amy Ambrosier

Hi Marla, I talked to your mom this morning on the phone. I'm glad you recieved my recent cards. Your mom filled me in this morning on how you're doing since your elbow surgery. I know it is hugely painful. I remember very well how painful my surgeries were and that it took several weeks to for the pain to decrease very much. I remember thinking that I would probably never return to my previous condition, but I did...and you will, too, sweetie. I hope your pain medication will now start working better for you so that you can rest. I have a strong feeling that, after a month or two of therapy, your arm will work better than it has since your car accident. We are all pulling for you in our prayers and our love for you and you family. Hugs, Sylvia
