Hi Marla! It was good to read of the progress of your elbow surgery. The last time I saw you at Malley you were about to undergo the procedure. I know how much you love to swim so that's great to hear of your wonderful progress. I am sad to hear you will be moving away soon, but I know it will be wonderful to live in Glenwood Springs. I have had a wonderful summer - probably the best in about five years. Our family went to Maui in June. Everyone was able to come. For some reason our grownup kids still will come on vacation with us. We've had a lovely summer with our youngest, Karen who will be leaving for college in Washington, DC next month. It will be strange to have no kids. What will we do? I think of you everyday (no kidding!) and pray that your life continues to improve and that you are happy. Take care, Marla and we will be in touch. Love, Norene

Hi- I wrote in my name and address a minute ago, and then the screen went blank. I probably touched a key I shouldn't have, and it may be that you have a message with just my name & address on it! Oh, well, I'm learning. I just now finished looking at several recent months of your pictures. What a delight! I wish I could have joined you on the convertible ride. I just got home from running some errands -- going to pay a speeding ticket (ugh) and to get my cell phone repaired. While I was out, the rain came in fierce, wind-driven sheets. Rainy season (when there are thunderstorms and rain nearly every afternoon) is late this year, but maybe this is finally the start. We've thought that, several times, though. Pam came home from work at 2:00 today, so she and Morgan could have some time together. He wanted to go swimming. They probably just barely got to the pool as the storm came, but I'm sure they found something else fun to do. He's so sweet. Yesterday, just out of the blue, he said, "Aunt Sylvia, did you see what my mama was wearing this morning?" (When I go to their house so Pam can leave for work, Morgan is always still asleep.) I described to him what she was wearing, and he asked for some details. I guess he was thinking about her, and wanted to get in his mind exactly what she looked like "right now." He's like I am of mornings. He sleeps late, and then he takes a long time really to wake up after he gets up. A few nights ago, when I came home, there was a pretty little tortie cat stretched out on my porch, nursing three kittens. I've seen the tortie around, and figured she had kittens by now, because torties are just about always female, and it's kitten season. But I hadn't seen her babies until now. They appear to be about 8-10 weeks old, and they and their momcat are very wild. They fled when I came, but they were back on the porch the next day. My neighbors to the north keep food out for stray cats, and I do, too, so they're well cared for. I'll hope to trap them soon and get them spayed/neutered and vaccinated. Two kittens are cute little black/tan tabbies, and one is a spectacular tri-color calico (one of my favorite kinds). I'll hope to talk with you soon. Love, Sylvia

Hi Marla! It was a lot of fun going with you to see Sarah McLachlan last night. What an awesome concert! I remember the last time she was on tour six years ago we went to see her together too. I really enjoyed sharing a memorable evening of music and fun with you. See you soon! Love, Mark

Hi, dear friend, Marla! Guess what? My new computer arrived last Friday, and, as of today, I have e-mail!!! This week I also got satellite TV. How much "modernization" can my 61-year-old heart take??!!! I have a letter ready to mail to you. I missed the mail today, so it should go out tomorrow. When Ryan (my niece, Pam's, 13-year-old son, who is my computer teacher) got everything ready for me to use the internet tonight, the first thing I did was to check your website. I enjoyed reading the updates! I'll sign off for now, but I look forward to being able to keep in closer touch with my friends now that I have a computer at home. Love ya' lots and lots, Sylvia

Hi Marla, Mary, Leo and Mark. I was delighted to read that the elbow surgery has brought so much mobility to Marla. I know it has been a tough surgery for all of you, but what hope it brings!! I am hoping that the sale of the townhouse means you are all coming home to Glenwood. And I hope Mary, that means your health is stabilizing too. I think of you all often. We have been having a great summer and I would love to catch up next time your in town. Take care of eachother and take it one day at a time. Look at how far you have come!! Love, debbe
