I thank the GPI for continuing your story. I have an uncle that had a motorcycle accident in the 40's . He was in the hosital for 8 months and could not open/close his eyes. He had no movement on the right side of his body. He recovered, and is now 87, with no adverse effects. You have got to have faith in God and friends. I would love to go on walks, hikes, movies, whatever!!! Let's 2 step, I love country dancing. When was the last time u did that? I'm curious about your 3 wheeled bike. I do the canyon alot, give me a heads up!!! Mike

Hi Marla! It was good to talk to you on Wednesday! Steve's feet still have not touched the ground after finding out we're "having a dude!" Since we're not sharing his name until the birth, we've had LOTS of input -- most of our guy friends seem to think THEIR name would be perfect! :) Imagine that! Until then, Steve would like to call him "Elway" after John Elway, since that was a name that had no chance of being picked! Anyway, have a very Happy Halloween! Love you! MM

Hi Marla! Hope you all made it to Glenwood without incident. I have no idea how you guys were able to get all your stuff in that truck! Thanks for spending the morning with me (and the dogs!) If there is anything else left at the house that Leo needs help with, please let us know! I'm already missing you! I will give you a call on Oct. 20 and let you know if we found anything out! And I'll see you soon, I hope! Love you! MM

Dear Marla and Family, How exciting to check your website today and see the WONDERFUL PICTURES and to get to read your update. I'd been checking pretty often to see if your summer photos were posted yet, and I was thrilled to see them today. The "Thunder Mountain" picture of you is superb,Marla. Somehow the beautiful colors in the soft sunset background just enhance your lovely complexion, and you look SO pretty. I also especially love the excellent picture of you and Mark in the mts., at the cabin, and the one of your whole family. The Challenge Camp pictures were incredible. What an experience that must have been, to go through all the courses successfully. It sounds as if each one required a lot of planning, perseverance, skill, and strength. Oh, Marla! I know I've said this before, but every time I see you looking so beautiful and being so successful, I'm so grateful; so very, very, grateful and happy. I remember those days after the accident, at St. Anthony's and Craig, when I'd sit by your bed and talk to you, longing for you to be able to respond. And, here you are, now, doing things which are far beyond my own strength and skills!! I know these nearly two years have been extremely difficult, but I hope you know how delighted I am to see you looking so poised and attractive, so fun-loving, and so happy. You and your family have worked so hard for every inch of progress, and I appreciate it so much when I see that your hard work has given us the precious gift of "having Marla back"!!! I left on 9/27 to go to Okla. to get Mom, a bit later than I'd planned. She'll be here with me about two weeks. We've had one birthday celebration already, and will have a family get-together on Sunday for Ryan's, Mom's, and my birthdays. Mom's 87 now, and I turned 62. Mom's really enjoying the baseball playoffs. I enjoy baseball, but not as much as Mom does. I don't have the endurance for the 3-games-a-day marathons which she's enjoyed on some recent days! My baby kittens continue to be such fun. I hope you enjoyed the pictures; I'll have some more pictures before long. The babies will be six weeks old tomorrow. They are running around, and doing quite a bit of playing now. It's so much fun to see their personalities emerge when they are so tiny -- fearless little Muncher, shy little Gary, playful Tiny Thomas, and little Mo who squeals really loudly if anything unusual happens. I so rarely get to have newborn kittens, because I get all the cats spayed and neutered. So, little pregnant Tootsie appearing at my door just before the babies were born, was God's sweet gift to Morgan and me. I'm going to Ryan's first home-game (football) in a little while. His first three games were away-games. "Away-game," here in New Mexico, really means AWAY. The kids have to go a LONG way to have enough teams to play---150 miles or so, for those first three games in Las Cruces, Springerville, and near El Paso. I'm excited about seeing him play. The ninth grade team which he's on, is really good. Sorry I've been slow about writing in these past few weeks. I got really busy getting everything ready for Mom, and then going on the driving-trip to bring her here. I know you are very busy with your move. I'll look forward to talking with you soon. I'm going to send this note without proofreading; I hope it makes sense. Love to you, Sylvia
